Direct Supervisor: Bakery Owner

JOB SUMMARY:

The Cake Team Manager is a professional member of the Bernice’s management team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead, motive and inspire all members of our cake team to produce high quality baked goods while also fostering a sense of community and harmony among all employees each and every day.

Your skill in baking high-quality desserts should be matched by your ability to schedule, provide growth goals, and hold accountable your staff of 17 people.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in culinary arts with a passion for sweet and delicious creations, must possess exemplary oral and written skills including customer service, service recovery as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Google Suite. Must adhere to all health and safety standards and possess the ability to teach those standards to new and existing staff.

 

Requirements:
Proven experience as a baker or relevant management role
Excellent observation skills and attention to detail
Proven track record in a leadership role
Willingness to replenish professional knowledge through continuing education
In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and baking techniques
Knowledge of dietary restrictions with special attention to nut and wheat allergies

Other responsibilities include :
Oversight of all cake, cookie, treat and pie production
Identify staffing needs, recruit, hire and train personnel (treat, cake bakers, dishwashers and decorators)
Write weekly staff schedule

Conduct personnel reviews including discipline and/or termination when necessary
Lead all cake team meetings
Full participation in all management and lead team meetings
Provide Customer service support
Maintain inventory stock levels throughout the day

Ordering and receiving from multiple vendors

Other qualifications
Minimum two years of baking experience
Minimum two years of management experience
Minimum two years of computer experience

We do, however, ask for a commitment of a minimum one year of consecutive employment. All Bernice’s Decorators are also expected to train for a minimum of 3 months with our front of house staff to ensure appropriate product knowledge.

Package, label, and properly store finished product
Maintain a cleans and safe work environment
Adhere to health and safety regulations by maintaining product freshness and sanitation
Meet time goals as set forth by the cake team manager
Deliver cakes directly to customers, when necessary
Provide courteous service to customers, when necessary

If you’re interested in the savory side of Bernice’s, this is the position for you! Experience is always encouraged but not necessary

Primary Duties include: making soups, salads and sandwiches from scratch as well as dressing, spreads and garnishes. Writing (typing) our daily lunch menu and posting to social media accounts.

Secondary Duties include: making chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons, de-panning our cake layers and cupcakes, general cleaning and washing dishes, other bakery duties as assigned. Primary skills and knowledge preferred: Roasting, chopping, baking, mixing as well as a basic understanding of food safety. Good grammar and computer skills are required.

Wednesday-Friday
Shifts run from 6am-2pm 

Primary Duties include mixing and baking cookies, doughs, brownies, and bars of all sorts. 

Secondary Duties include assisting the cake bakers, dishers and decorators.

We are currently accepting resumes for a part-time (24+ hours) pastry prep person and night cleaner.

Schedule is as follows:

  • 3 days a week, Thursday-Saturday must work weekends

Primary Duties include maintaining a sanitary work environment, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and deep cleaning the bakery kitchen, decorating room, bathrooms and dining room.

Secondary Duties include cleanliness of the dish and personal area, preparing fillings and frosting for the pastry team, baking coconut macaroons, stocking dry ingredients

The shift is responsible for the production of our Croissant dough, along with Parker House Rolls and Twists made from that dough. Previous professional baking experience is preferred, but not necessary for the right applicant.

Primary Duties include the mixing and manipulation of Croissant dough, along with forming Twists and Parker House Rolls out of that dough.

Secondary Duties include maintaining a clean, organized workspace, and participating in the execution of other assorted team duties.
